The first live show of season 24 on \u201cAmerican Idol\u201d\u00a0will be a whirlwind of performances and voting results on March 30, 2026. Beginning at 8 p.m. Eastern \/ 5 p.m. Pacific, host\u00a0Ryan Seacrest\u00a0will kick off the show by revealing which of the\u00a0Top 20 singers\u00a0have made it through to the Top 14, based on viewer votes cast during the last two weeks\u2019 shows.<\/p>\n

The Top 14 will then \u201clift their voices in inspiring songs of faith,\u201d according to ABC, and fans will have to cast their votes DURING the show.\u00a0Important to note:<\/strong>\u00a0the \u201cAmerican Idol\u201d voting app from years past is gone, and you do not have to wait until a contestant\u2019s performance to vote for them.<\/p>\n

Voting will end during the final commercial break, and Seacrest will reveal two more contestants going home, with 12 finalists remaining in the competition. Here\u2019s how to vote live for your favorites.<\/p>\n

Be Extra Careful With New \u2018American Idol\u2019 Social Media Voting<\/h2>\n

Top 20 of \u201cAmerican Idol\u201d season 24<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Two weeks ago, as the Top 20 performed from Disney\u2019s Aulani Resort & Spa in Hawaii, the show introduced its new social media voting system, becoming the first reality TV competition to allow voting via social media platforms,\u00a0per Deadline. The March 30 program marks the first time that the system is utilized during a live show \u2014 and\u00a0you have to be very careful to ensure your social media votes count<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

When the two-hour episode starts at 8 p.m. Eastern time, a\u00a0special voting post<\/em>\u00a0will be pinned to the top of three \u201cAmerican Idol\u201d social media accounts. Look for the purple VOTING post \u2014 it should be the first post in each feed \u2014 and that\u2019s where you\u2019ll vote in the comment section. Only viewers 18 and older are allowed to participate in social voting,\u00a0per ABC\u2019s rules.<\/p>\n

For easy access, here\u2019s the show\u2019s\u00a0Instagram feed, here\u2019s the show\u2019s\u00a0Facebook account,\u00a0and here\u2019s the show\u2019s\u00a0TikTok account.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In those three special social media posts, you can vote\u00a0up to 10 times<\/strong>\u00a0for each remaining contestant by typing in the singer\u2019s\u00a0FIRST name only<\/strong>\u00a0in 10\u00a0separate<\/em>\u00a0comments. For example, if you want to cast a vote for\u00a0Keyla Richardson,\u00a0you\u2019d type in KEYLA \u2014 nothing else \u2014 in up to 10 separate comments. If you also want to vote for someone else, like Ruby Rae, you\u2019d type RUBY in up to 10\u00a0other<\/em>\u00a0comments on the post.<\/p>\n

IMPORTANT!\u00a0<\/strong>Here\u2019s how to ensure your votes get counted:<\/p>\n

  • Do NOT<\/strong>\u00a0try to take a shortcut and write something like \u201cKEYLA x 10\u201d or \u201c10 Votes for KEYLA.\u201d Each comment only equals one vote.<\/li>\n
  • Do NOT<\/strong>\u00a0reply to your own comments or others\u2019 comments with a contestant\u2019s name. Replies will not be counted, only original comments.<\/li>\n
  • Do NOT<\/strong>\u00a0post more than one name in a comment. Only the first name in a comment will be counted. So, if you try to write something like \u201cChris, Lucas, and Rae,\u201d that would only earn a vote for Chris.<\/li>\n
  • DO NOT\u00a0<\/strong>try to cast your votes on any social media posts other than the three official voting posts at the top of each \u201cAmerican Idol\u201d social media account. They will not be seen or counted.<\/li>\n
  • DO NOT<\/strong>\u00a0misspell contestants\u2019 names \u2014 those votes will not be counted either.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    There are two other tried-and-true ways to cast your vote during the March 30 live show \u2014 via the \u201cAmerican Idol\u201d website and via text.<\/p>\n

    For\u00a0online voting<\/strong>, go to\u00a0AmericanIdol.com\/Vote\u00a0(once the episode starts) and you\u2019ll be able to cast up to 10 votes per contestant you\u2019d like to see move on in the competition. If you don\u2019t already have a MyDisney account, you\u2019ll be able to create one with your email address. To vote online, you must be at least 16 years old and located in the U.S., Puerto Rico, or the U.S. Virgin Islands, per ABC\u2019s rules.<\/p>\n

    For\u00a0voting by text<\/strong>, you can text a favorite contestant\u2019s unique number to \u201c21523\u201d as soon as the episode starts (8 p.m. Eastern time). You can do this up to 10 times for each contestant you want to advance. The singers\u2019 unique numbers are the same as they have been since voting began; below are the numbers assigned to each contestant.<\/p>\n
