    Teddi Mellencamp\u00a0delivered an emotional tribute to her dad\u00a0John Mellencamp\u00a0at the 2026\u00a0iHeartRadio Music Awards.<\/p>\n

    The reality TV star \u2014 who\u00a0confirmed she has stage four cancer\u00a0in April 2025 \u2014 teared up as she delivered a speech and\u00a0presented the 74-year-old rocker with the iHeartRadio Music Icon Award\u00a0at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on Thursday, March 26.<\/p>\n

    \u201cTonight we celebrate the career of my dad, John Mellencamp,\u201d Teddi, 44, began. \u201cBut before I tell you the story of\u00a0John Mellencamp, the artist,<\/em>\u00a0I want to tell you the story of him as a father. He\u2019s being honored as an icon, a legend, a hitmaker, but to me he\u2019ll always be \u2018dad.’\u201d<\/p>\n

    Teddi then spoke about how people always wanted to know what it was like \u201cgrowing up with a rock star for a father.\u201d<\/p>\n

    \u201cIn my eyes, it was no different than anybody else,\u201d she said, tearing up. \u201cHe gave me advice, he\u2019d give me groundings, he would love on me.\u201d<\/p>\n

    Teddi then recalled getting \u201cembarrassed\u201d when he\u2019d come to her volleyball games and give all the moms \u201cchills.\u201d<\/p>\n

    But\u00a0The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills<\/em>\u00a0alum then noted there were moments that she couldn\u2019t believe Mellencamp was her father.<\/p>\n

    \u201cWhen you\u2019re in an Uber and they\u2019re blasting \u2018Jack & Diane,\u2019 when you\u2019re at a karaoke bar and somebody\u2019s singing \u2018Hurts So Good,\u2019 his plethora of hit songs holding a place in the hearts of millions, but for me, \u2018Longest Days\u2019 has been the song that means the most,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

    Teddi continued, \u201cIn it he sings, \u2018But nothing lasts forever \/ Your best efforts don\u2019t always pay \/ Sometimes when you get sick, you don\u2019t get better \/ That\u2019s when life is short, even at its longest days.\u201d<\/p>\n

    Teddi then reflected on discovering the news that her cancer had metastasized to her\u00a0brain and lungs\u00a0last year, which she revealed in April 2025.<\/p>\n

    \u201cBecause it was a little over a year ago when I got sick, my life felt short even when the days in the hospital seemed to go on forever,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

    Teddi noted that John wasn\u2019t going to let the lyric, \u201cSometimes you get sick and you don\u2019t get better\u201d define her life.<\/p>\n

    \u201cHe stepped up, took control, fought for me, and pretty much changed my life, saved my life,\u201d she said. \u201cOh, we\u2019re celebrating the icon, the artist, a man the whole world knows as John Mellencamp. A man I get to call dad, and my best friend.\u201d<\/p>\n
