\u2018Dad, it\u2019s hard to find the right words for this, but I\u2019ll do my best. You\u2019ve been the man I looked up to my whole life,\u2019 the note began.<\/p>\n

Someone who had the respect, humility and strength it takes to be a man. We will miss you, my friend\u00a0\"\u2728\"\u2019<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Norris\u2019 Expendables costar Sylvester Stallone wrote, \u2018I had a great time working with Chuck. He was All American in every way. Great man and my condolences to his wonderful family.\u2019<\/p>\n

The action movie and martial arts legend \u2013 best known for his work on Walker, Texas Ranger \u2013 had been hospitalized with a medical emergency just days after his birthday, and his family have revealed he was \u2018surrounded by\u2019 his loved ones when he passed.<\/p>\n

In a statement on his official Instagram page, his family\u00a0said: \u2018It is with heavy hearts that our family shares the sudden passing of our beloved Chuck Norris yesterday morning.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2018While we would like to keep the circumstances private, please know that he was surrounded\u00a0by his family and was at peace.<\/p>\n

They note that despite being brokenhearted, they are \u2018grateful for the life\u00a0he lived\u2019, and for the support from fans after he fell ill on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

They wrote: \u2018While our hearts are broken, we are deeply grateful for the life he lived and for the unforgettable moments we were blessed to share with him.<\/p>\n

Norris served in the US Air Force and went on to win multiple martial arts championships.<\/p>\n

The Delta Force actor is a black belt in Karate, Taekwondo, Tang Soo Do, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and Judo.<\/p>\n

Norris founded his own discipline, Chun Kuk Do, and he went on to train celebrities in martial arts.<\/p>\n

His late friend, actor and martial artist Bruce Lee, cast him as villain Colt in 1972\u2019s The Way of the Dragon, and late\u00a0Hollywood legend Steve McQueen then encouraged Norris to continue acting.<\/p>\n

His most popular role came in 1993 as the titular character Ranger Cordell Walker in Walker, Texas Ranger.<\/p>\n
