A Tearful Jessie Buckley Says Thank You in Gaelic, Dedicates Her Best Actress Oscar to the \u201cBeautiful Chaos of a Mother\u2019s Heart\u201d<\/h1>\n<\/header>\n

    Jessie Buckley took a beat to laugh at the absurdity of it all when she won the award for Best Actress for her heartbreaking performance in\u00a0Hamnet<\/em>\u00a0at the\u00a02026 Oscars\u00a0on Sunday night.<\/p>\n

    Buckely was awarded her statue by last year\u2019s Best Actress winner, Mikey Madison of\u00a0Anora.<\/em><\/p>\n

    \u201cWow. Thank you so much,\u201d the Irish actor said. Then she turned away from the mic to laugh incredulously. \u201cThis is really something. Thank you to the incredible women that I stand beside, I\u2019m inspired by your art, and your heart, and I want to work with every single one of you.\u201d<\/p>\n

    Buckley went to thank \u201cmy Irish family, they\u2019re all here, Ireland bought that them flights!\u201d<\/p>\n

    Buckley also thanked her husband and recently born baby, and, of course,\u00a0Hamnet\u00a0<\/em>writer\/director Chloe Zhao, and the chance to play a character where she got to \u201cunderstand the capacity of a mother\u2019s love.\u201d But the heart of Buckley\u2019s speech came at the end, when she shouted out mothers everywhere.<\/p>\n

    \u201cIt\u2019s Mothers Day in the UK today,\u201d Buckley said. \u201cI would like to dedicate this to the beautiful chaos of a mother\u2019s heart. We all come from a lineage of women, who continue to create against all odds. Thank you for recognizing me in this role, this is the greatest honor, I can\u2019t even believe it.\u201d<\/p>\n

    Buckley concluded her speech by thanking the audience in Gaelic. \u201cGo raibh m\u00edle maith agat,\u201d means \u201cThank you so much,\u201d in Irish Gaelic.<\/p>\n
