Riley Green<\/strong>\u00a0is headed to television, with the singer to appear in several episodes of the upcoming\u00a0Yellowstone\u00a0<\/em>spinoff\u00a0Marshals<\/em>. The 37-year-old country superstar follows in the footsteps of fellow country hitmaker\u00a0Lainey Wilson, who appeared on\u00a0Yellowstone\u00a0<\/em>as a musician named Abby. In a new interview with\u00a0Entertainment Tonight<\/em>, Green revealed that his character will also have a musical aspect.<\/p>\n

Green will appear on\u00a0Marshals<\/em>\u00a0as former Navy SEAL named Garrett, who arrives at the ranch, unexpectedly, hoping to lean on his friends Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes) and Cal (Logan Marshall-Green) to help \u201cput the demons of his past to rest.\u201d Apparently, he will also sing on the show, with Green sharing that he gets \u201cto play a little bit on the show.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cMy character, Garrett, happens to play guitar and sing a little bit,\u201d Green said. \u201cI get to play some on the show and it\u2019s going to be cool to see that world intertwine with country music because it\u2019s such a great alignment.\u201d<\/p>\n

The 37-year-old added that his character has \u201ca lot of backstory\u201d and \u201ca lot of emotion\u201d and has \u201cbeen through a lot.\u201d Noting that he has \u201csome really intense scenes,\u201d Green admitted that \u201cit was kind of tough to get into that mode and it took a little while to do it, but once I did, it was something that kind of got easy to fall into.\u201d<\/p>\n

He was also a little nervous when he began filming, a feeling he says \u201cit\u2019s been a while\u201d since he\u2019s experienced.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen you walk on stage, everybody\u2019s there to see me. It\u2019s my show and everybody works for me,\u201d Green explained. \u201cAnd when you go on a set, nobody works for me and you really got that feeling of like I\u2019m the new kid. So it was cool to feel that it\u2019s a challenge and to feel those nerves. And fortunately I was around some really great people.\u201d<\/p>\n

Marshals<\/em>\u00a0stars Grimes as\u00a0Yellowstone<\/em>\u2018s Kayce Dutton, who \u201cjoins an elite unit of U.S. Marshals, combining his skills as a cowboy and Navy SEAL to bring range justice to Montana, where he and his teammates must balance family, duty and the high psychological cost that comes with serving as the last line of defense in the region\u2019s war on violence.\u201d<\/p>\n

Luke Grimes and Riley Green are good friends, and it was Grimes who helped Green score the role on his new show.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs he was starting his music career, I was kind of trying to help him out in town and we wrote some songs together and it was really just buddies talking,\u201d Green said of Grimes, who is also a country singer preparing to release a new album. \u201cHe said, \u2018You should do some acting.\u2019 And then little did I know he had a part for me. So flew out here and read for it on Saturday and flew back and started filming on Monday. So it was a quick thing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Some of the early scenes Green filmed for\u00a0Marshals<\/em>\u00a0were with his friend, which he noted was a big help in making him feel more comfortable, sharing, \u201cit was so awesome to have him around and for my first few scenes to be with him, just to have that rapport with him was great, really helpful.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
